Announcing the Release of DOMICO 2005 v6
By Glenn Hunter, President

Glenn HunterIt was less then a year ago that our customers received DOMICO 2005, a major upgrade to our flagship product. Your feedback has been very positive and indicated you were quite pleased with the results of our labor. However, given our substantial research and development initiative, we have once again created an upgrade that further improves our product, enabling DOMICO to maintain its technological lead over the rest of the self storage software industry.

It is with great pride that DOMICO announces the release of a major upgrade to our software. This new version result from hundreds of labor hours by our development team, and has been field-tested for several months. We would like to thank all of those customers who were willing to assist us.

There are more than a hundred changes and enhancements to the software in this upgrade. You can review DOMICO 2005 v6 Release Notes (in PDF format) which summarize all the major changes we have made. Here is a brief overview of some key changes.

Close Day Process | Our Close Day process is unique to the industry. No other product encompasses a similar control mechanism. As part of this process, DOMICO software needs to communicate with external objects, such as security system software, printers, and credit card processing software. We learned that if there is a problem with any of these external objects, it can have a negative impact on your Close Day process. As a result, we have changed the Close Day process. So that if any of these external objects malfunction, the Close Day process will continue past the problem. At the end of Close Day, the user will now see a message advising them to contact our support department.

Autopay | We have provided an option for autopay customers that anniversary billing customers will enjoy. This option moves the autopays from the end of the Close Day to the beginning. The result is that reconciliation between the DOMICO date and the credit card statement date is simplified.

Credit Card Reversal | A credit card reversal is now followed by a pop up reminder to reverse the payment directly in the credit card software since we are not allowed to interface this feature.

Transfer Statement | We have created a Transfer Statement that will optionally print out at the completion of a Transfer. This statement provides both the facility manager and the customer with a clear explanation of the complex pro-rates that are inherent in this process.

90 Day Rolling Cash flow Report | We have recreated a report that was a favorite of our DOS product users called the 90 Day Rolling Cash flow report.

We hope you will enjoy these new features available in DOMICO 2005 v6 upgrade. As always, we love to hear from you, and we welcome your feedback.

DOMICO 2005 v6 will be shipping to all DOMICO customers under warranty support beginning March.

Upcoming Events
March 30-31, 2006 | SSA Chicago - The Self Storage Association's annual Spring Conference and Tradeshow will be held at the luxurious Sheraton Chicago Hotel. DOMICO will be exhibiting in booths 620-622.

Tech Tip of the Month
Backup Tip | As all of you know backing up your data is very important. However, how do you know that your backups are working correctly? Regardless of the media you use for backups (CD-RW, CD-R, ZIP, TAPE), you can easily check to make sure they are working properly. To verify your backups, please do the following:

1. Go to My Computer or windows Explorer
2. Double click the drive letter of the media you are using (e.g. D: Drive)
3. All backups are labeled by date. If the last time you did your backup was January 23, 2006 and your back up is working correctly, you should see the backup date as follows: Backup012306.mdb.

We also recommend that you replace CD's or ZIP discs every 6 months to guarantee quality backups.
